GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW
Core Rhythm Battles
In Friday Night Funkin’, players control Boyfriend during musical showdowns. The main objective involves defeating opponents to continue dating Girlfriend. Each confrontation unfolds across structured levels called Weeks. Every Week contains three songs performed against a specific rival. During songs, opponents perform note patterns represented by directional arrows. Players must mirror those patterns using assigned keyboard inputs. Missing too many notes reduces health and risks losing the round. Successful timing maintains health until the song ends.
The game currently features nine main levels alongside selected song remixes. Additional content includes WeekEnd 1 featuring characters from Pico’s School. In this level, players control Pico instead of Boyfriend. The tenth level titled SP. Collab 1 features collaboration content. This level includes a musical performance of Spaghetti with Le Sserafim members.
Modes and Difficulty Options
Friday Night Funkin’ offers a structured story campaign mode. In this mode, songs play in linear order across Weeks. Additionally, Freeplay mode allows independent track selection. Players can choose Easy, Normal, or Hard difficulty settings. Higher difficulties increase arrow speed and pattern complexity. Selected songs also include Erect and Nightmare remixes. These remixes introduce more demanding note sequences and faster gameplay pacing. High scores track performance for each Week and difficulty.
