ABOUT CATDOKU

Catdoku is a relaxing cat-themed logic puzzle game where you determine the correct cells for a limited number of cats by applying row, column, color, and no-touching rules. Inspired by Sudoku-style logic with Minesweeper-like deduction, the puzzles replace numbers with cats and challenge you to eliminate impossible positions before making a placement. Each row and column can contain only one cat, each color group is limited to one, and cats cannot touch horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. X marks help you keep track of cells that are no longer valid instead of relying on memory throughout the puzzle. Because placing a cat can eliminate possibilities across its row, column, color group, and surrounding cells, each confirmed position can provide useful information for the rest of the grid. Incorrect placements can cost a fish, while hints are available when you become stuck, making careful deduction safer than random guessing. Apply every rule, narrow down the possibilities, and find the correct spot for every cat!

GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW

Eliminate Impossible Cells Before Placing Cats

Catdoku rewards deduction rather than random placement, with several restrictions working together to determine which cells remain possible. When you know a cell cannot contain a cat, you can mark it with an X and remove that location from consideration. Checking whether a row or column is already occupied, whether a color has been used, and whether another cat is too close can gradually narrow the available choices.

Follow Row, Column, Color, and Contact Rules

Every cat placement must satisfy multiple conditions at once: only one cat can occupy each row and column, and each color can contain only one cat. Cats also cannot touch one another horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, so a confirmed placement immediately rules out the surrounding cells. Looking for positions restricted by several rules at once can help identify where the next cat belongs without relying on a guess.

Protect Your Fish With Careful Deduction

Incorrect placements can cost a fish, giving you a reason to examine the grid carefully before committing to a cat. After every successful placement, checking its row, column, color group, and nearby cells can reveal additional spaces that should be marked with an X. If deduction leaves you stuck, a hint is available instead of forcing a risky move.
