The game combines daytime exploration with nighttime combat, requiring you to collect supplies, unlock restricted areas, and prepare for approaching zombie attacks. Limited electricity adds another challenge because doors, lights, and elevators depend on a power system that can become overloaded. Coins collected from laboratory containers and defeated enemies allow you to upgrade weapons, improve character abilities, and build defensive structures. You can choose between Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty settings, while persistent combat improvements help strengthen your abilities across multiple attempts. Explore Seven Floors and Unlock Hidden Areas
Last Light challenges you to explore an underground research facility while searching for a route to the surface. During the day, you can investigate abandoned rooms, collect coins, and discover color-coded keycards hidden inside research desks. These cards unlock restricted sections throughout the laboratory's seven dangerous floors. Stairs and elevators connect different areas, while question mark icons help identify objects and locations you can interact with.
Manage Electricity and Survive Nighttime Attacks
Electricity powers essential systems throughout the laboratory, including doors, lighting, and elevators. Excessive power consumption can overload the electrical grid, triggering alarms and immediate zombie breaches until you restore power using basement switches. At midnight, aggressive mutant waves begin attacking, turning exploration into a fight for survival. Preparing defensive positions and managing electricity carefully are essential for surviving these dangerous encounters.
Build Defenses and Upgrade Your Combat Skills
Coins earned from defeated zombies and laboratory containers can be spent on character upgrades, improved weapons, and defensive equipment. Stationary turrets automatically attack approaching mutants, while vending-machine barricades help block narrow corridors and entrances. Placing defenses in strategic locations can reduce the pressure during nighttime attacks. Weapon proficiency and combat mastery also carry over between runs, allowing you to strengthen your abilities for future escape attempts.
